In addition to material types, magnets are also classified into performance grades. Different magnetic grades have different parameters. Today's article is about how to choose the appropriate grade of ferrite magnets.
Choosing a grade of ferrite magnet (e.g. Y10, Y25, Y30, Y35) depends largely on the needs of your application, especially magnetic strength and cost. Below is a brief description of the different grades of ferrite magnets and selection considerations.
High-grade curved ceramic ferrites for motors
Y10 grade ferrite, weak remanent magnetism and coercivity, magnetic energy product about 7-10kJ/m³, suitable for some applications that don't need too strong magnetism, lower cost (product and open mold).
Y25 grade ferrite, with moderate magnetic force and higher magnetic strength than Y10, is commonly used in applications requiring moderate magnetic force, typically such as speakers, home appliance components, sensors, and general motors.
Y30 ferrite magnets, with a magnetic energy product of about 26-30kJ/m³, can provide a strong magnetic force, suitable for some applications that require a strong magnetic field, and good temperature resistance. Widely used in high demand motors, instruments, magnetic products, magnetic sensors and so on.
Y35 grade ferrite magnets, with higher magnetic energy product than Y30, have stronger magnetic force and good temperature resistance, suitable for applications requiring strong magnetic force and high stability, such as high-end motors, high precision sensors.
Ferrite Magnetic Grade Selection Suggestions;
If the application requires a stronger magnetic force or a larger size of ferrite magnet, it is recommended to choose Y30 or Y35 grade; if the magnetic force requirement is lower, Y10 or Y25 may be sufficient.
Y25 and above grade magnets have better high temperature resistance, if your application scenario involves a high temperature environment (e.g., high temperature inside an electric motor), it is recommended to choose Y30 or Y35.
If you have a limited budget, ferrite magnets of Y10 and Y25 are the more economical choices.
