Previously we have introduced you to Y10 magnet, Y30 magnet, today we introduce you to Y25 magnet, including its characteristics, performance parameters, applications and some customers often ask questions.
Y25 magnet basic cognition:
Y25 magnet is a kind of sintered ferrite magnet, belongs to the permanent magnetic material.Y25 is one of the grades of its magnetic properties, the main component is Fe₂O₃, Sr or Ba and other materials, and it can be processed in a variety of shapes, such as ring, rectangle, square, arc, cylindrical and so on.
The following pictures are Y25 grade ferrite ring magnets, mostly used in speakers.
Main performance parameters of Y25 magnet:
Residual magnetism (Br): about 0.38 - 0.4T (Tesla)
Coercivity (Hcb): approx. 180 - 220 kA/m
Maximum magnetic energy product (BHmax): approx. 21 - 25 kJ/m³
Curie temperature: approx. 450°C
Operating temperature range: -40°C to 250°C
Compared to other grades of ferrite magnets, such as Y30 and Y35, Y25 magnets have lower magnetic properties, but their cost advantage allows them to still have a wider market in applications that do not require high magnetic properties.
Typical applications for Y25 magnets;
Various types of horns (speakers), magnetism sensors, counters, etc.
Several common issues with Y25 magnets;
1. What is the difference between Y25 magnet and Y30 and Y35?
Y25 magnets have lower magnetic properties than Y30 and Y35, with weaker magnetic field strength, and are suitable for applications that do not require high magnetic properties. While Y30 and Y35 have higher remanent magnetization and magnetic energy product, which can provide stronger magnetic force in the same volume.
2. Can Y25 magnets substitute NdFeB magnets?
Usually not. NdFeB magnets (e.g. N33, N35) have much higher magnetic properties than Y25 magnets, so Y25 cannot substitute NdFeB if the application requires strong magnetic force. However, in applications that do not require high magnetic properties, high temperature resistance or low cost, Y25 may be a suitable alternative.
3. Do Y25 magnets require additional anti-corrosion coating?
No, it does not. Unlike NdFeB, Y25 magnets are inherently more resistant to corrosion and do not require additional coatings in common environments.
4. How much do Y25 magnets cost?
The cost of Y25 magnet is lower, generally the price is calculated by weight or volume, which is much cheaper than NdFeB magnet. Specific price need to provide size, shape.
