How much weight can a small magnet hold?

Have magnet questions, welcome to courage magnet manufacturer Magnet FAQ section, This article mainly introduces you how much weight can a small magnet hold?

Small magnets are divided into two main categories: neodymium-iron-boron magnets (NdFeB) and ferrite magnets (Ferrite), which differ in their weight-bearing capacity and application areas.

The following picture shows the adsorption capacity of a small neodymium round magnet of 4mm x 1.5mm.

NdFeB magnets: These magnets are known for their high magnetic energy product and are the most powerful permanent magnets known. They are commonly used in small devices that require high magnetic force, such as headphones, hard disk drives, and electric motors.

Ferrite Magnets: These magnets have a relatively weak magnetic force, but offer better corrosion resistance and lower cost. They are commonly used in speakers, refrigerator stickers and toys.

The following is the measured weight that can be adsorbed by a small neodymium magnet;

1x1mm mini round neodymium magnet with n35 rating can hold 10g weight vertically.

2x1mm mini round neodymium magnet with n35 rating can hold 20g weight.

2.5x1 n35 round neodymium magnets, can hold 50g weights.

The picture below shows the suction of a 6mm x 2mm round NdFeB magnet.

3x1mm thin round rare earth magnet that can pick up 100g weights.

Small 4mm x 1mm round magnet that can pick up 200g weights.

Small round 4x2mm magnets with N35 rating can pick up 360g and N52 rating can pick up 520g.

The small powerful magnet of 8x1mm can pick up weights weighing 500g.

As for the ferrite material, the suction (pull) is much weaker than NdFeB for the same specification.

The weight-bearing capacity of a small magnet is affected by a number of factors, including magnet material, size, contact surface, temperature and air gap. Despite their small size, NdFeB magnets are capable of providing significant magnetic force and can hold from a dozen grams to several hundred grams under ideal conditions.
