4 types of magnets [strengths uses picture]

At present, there are many types of magnets that have been developed. We Courage magnet manufacturer also have a variety of material magnets to choose from and customize. Today we introduce the strength and use of four main types of rare earth neodymium magnetsceramic ferrite magnetsamarium cobalt magnetsalnico magnets and attach relevant photos for everyone to understand.

First, The order of the magnetic force of the magnet

Magnetic force from large to small are: neodymium magnets, samarium cobalt magnets, aluminum nickel cobalt magnets, ferrite magnets.

4 Main Types of Permanent Magnets;

1. Neodymium rare earth magnet(Ndfeb):

Ndfeb is currently found to have the highest commercial performance of magnets, known as magnetic king. The appearance of silver white, density 7.5-7.7g/cm³, Curie temperature 310-350℃, it has very high magnetic properties, its maximum magnetic energy product (BHmax), more than 10 times higher than ferrite. Its own processing performance is also quite good, the working temperature can reach 220 degrees Celsius. Neodymium magnets are hard, stable and cost-effective, so they are widely used. However, due to its strong chemical activity, its surface coating must be treated. (such as zinc, nickel, electrophoresis, epoxy, passivation, etc.).

Neodymium magnet uses:

It is widely used in permanent magnet motor motor, wind power energy, magnetic power machine, automotive industry, audio-visual equipment, electronics industry, IT information, medical equipment, mining equipment, industrial automation, sports equipment, power tools, electrical appliances, watches, glasses, toys, LED lighting, security equipment, luggage leather, computer mobile phone protective cases, hardware and plastics and other fields.

2. Samarium cobalt magnet (SmCo):

According to the different components are divided into SmCo5 and Sm2Co17. The development of samarium cobalt is limited by its high price. Samarium cobalt magnet (SmCo), as a rare earth permanent magnet, not only has a high magnetic energy product (14-28MGOe), reliable coercivity and good temperature characteristics. Compared with neodymium magnets, samarium cobalt magnets are more suitable for working in high temperature environments, high temperatures up to 350 ° C.

Samarium-cobalt magnets uses:

High-performance motors, actuators, generators, turbomachinery, motors, magnetic separation devices, travelling wave tubes, magnetic coupling shafts, magnetic bearings, sensor systems, drilling equipment, wind turbine equipment, energy recovery systems, medical equipment, missile components, industrial automation equipment, electromagnetic drive components, pipeline inspection, robotic arms, gyroscopes, accelerometers, particle accelerators, sputtering product.

3. Aluminum nickel cobalt magnet(AlNiCo):

Aluminum nickel cobalt is an alloy composed of aluminum, nickel, cobalt, iron and other trace metal elements. The casting process can be processed into different sizes and shapes, and the machinability is very good. Cast aluminum-nickel-cobalt permanent magnet has the lowest reversible temperature coefficient, and the operating temperature can be as high as 600 degrees Celsius or more. Aluminum-nickel-cobalt permanent magnet products are widely used in various instruments and other applications, but now many businesses are using neodymium magnets instead of aluminum-nickel-cobalt.

Aluminum nickel cobalt magnet application:

Used in motors, sensors, medical equipment, hand tools, subwoofer speakers, instrument panels, automotive parts, instrumentation, electroacoustic, motor, teaching equipment, communication, magnetoelectric switches and various sensors.

4. Ferrite magnet:

The main raw materials of ferrite are SrO or BaO and Fe2O3, manufactured by ceramic process, the texture is relatively hard, black appearance, and it is a brittle material. Ferrite magnet because of its good temperature resistance, low price and moderate performance, has become the most widely used permanent magnet, density 4.8-5.0g/cm3 temperature < 250℃, Curie temperature about 450℃.

Ferrite ceramic magnet application:

Widely used in electric meters, meters, motors, encoders, rotors, fans, automatic control, electrical appliances, sensors, microwave devices, radar and medical equipment
