The magnetization direction of the magnet used in the flow meter is usually determined by the technical design and application requirements, in the flow meter, the magnet is usually used to produce a stable magnetic field.
Magnets in flowmeters have several common magnetization directions, which depend on the type and design of the flowmeter. Here are two of the common directions of magnetization:
1. Axial magnetization:
In axial magnetization, the magnetization direction of the magnet is parallel to the direction of the fluid flow. This direction of magnetization is often used in turbine flowmeters and some vortex flowmeters.
2. Radial magnetization:
In radial magnetization, the magnetization direction of the magnet is perpendicular to the direction of the fluid flow, that is, the magnetic field radiates from the center of the pipe or guides from the outside to the center of the pipe. This direction of magnetization is often used in magnetic induction flowmeters, such as eddy current flowmeters.
