What kind of ring magnet are used for magnetic encoders?

Encoder ring is an important part of the magnetic encoder, used to generate a magnetic field and with the sensor with the realization of position or angle measurement, today's article to introduce you to the encoder often use the magnetic ring of several materials. 


Currently, the main ring magnet materials used in magnetic encoders are injection molded ferrite, flexible rubber magnet, bonded neodymium iron boron.

Among them, injection molded ferrite magnetic rings have strong resistance to mechanical shock and high durability, and are suitable for encoders with low to medium precision, especially in applications where shape and structural complexity are required. Rubber magnetic rings are soft and easy to process, able to adapt to the needs of bending or special shapes, with weaker magnetic properties, suitable for equipment that requires lightweight and flexible installation. Bonded NdFeB rings have the highest magnetic properties and are particularly suitable for high-precision, high-resolution encoders, widely used in high-end industrial and robotic applications.
