Ferrite magnet is a hard and brittle ceramic permanent magnet material, it is cheap and applicable to a very wide range of scenarios, and then, due to its high hardness and brittleness, it can not be cut by conventional metal machining methods, but requires a specialized process, the following is a common profile machining methods and precautions.

Cutting
The sintered ferrite needs to be sliced or divided by diamond cutting blade (water-cooled), which is suitable for straight lines or simple shapes. As for wire cutting, the conductivity is poor, special treatment is needed, the cost is high, and it is rarely seen.
Grinding Processing
Diamond or silicon carbide grinding wheels are used to profile sintered magnets and control dimensional accuracy (e.g. cylinder flat, circular).
Grinding and Grinding Machining
Profile dressing of sintered magnets with diamond or silicon carbide grinding wheels to control dimensional accuracy (e.g., flatness, circularity). Centerless grinding machines are suitable for batch cylinder magnets for external round machining.
Drilling
Drilling of ferrite magnets with carbide or diamond drills at low speeds and with coolant.
For some special shapes are usually molded, by pressing raw blanks (unsintered powder) directly into shape, and then sintered and cured at high temperature, suitable for complex shapes (such as curved, special holes).
Several important precautions;
1. Ferrite magnets belong to ceramic materials with low bending strength, and excessive mechanical stress should be avoided as much as possible during processing.
2. Due to the high temperature generated during the cutting and grinding process, it may cause local overheating and demagnetization of the magnet. It is recommended to use water cooling or oil cooling for cooling treatment.
3. Before processing, it is necessary to clarify the magnetization direction to avoid incorrect magnetic direction caused by processing errors, which may affect the performance of the final product.
Above is the ferrite magnet shape processing methods and precautions introduced, simple shapes can be cut/grinded/drilled, complex shapes need to be two outside the open mold pressing.
