Best Magnet for Magnetic Separators - Neodymium

Magnetic separators are invaluable tools for industries to remove metal impurities from materials in processing applications. But which type of magnet to use in these separators for best results?


The answer is rare earth neodymium magnets.

Why are neodymium magnets the best choice for magnetic separators?

Neodymium magnets remove iron impurities as small as 30 microns and capture weakly magnetic 300 series stainless steel, which ensures full separation. Resistant to high temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius before the strength decreases. Due to the superb magnetic properties, it is suitable for tight spaces while being able to accurately locate.


You might think it has poor corrosion resistance? That's right, but anytime technology develops, there are more and more corrosion resistant coatings to choose from at lower and lower prices, and the adoption rate is increasing.


In summary, NdFeB magnets are the magnets of choice for use in magnetic separators due to their extremely high magnetic force, relatively good stability, and ever-improving corrosion resistance. When selecting a specific NdFeB magnet, it is also important to consider the different grades (e.g., N35, N42, N45, N50, and N52), which represent different magnetic field strengths, operating temperatures, and costs. For example, the N42 grade is usually the most cost-effective choice, while N52, and N54 are stronger choices, but also cost the most.
