As a material with unique magnetic properties, magnets have a wide range of applications in modern life, some of which you use every day but you may not be aware of, this article will list four everyday items that contain magnets: headphones, cell phones, electric toothbrushes and magnetic door stops.
1. Headphones
Headphones are an indispensable device in our daily lives, especially when enjoying music, answering phone calls or conducting online meetings. The magnet inside the headset plays a key role. Most headphones have a moving coil design, which contains a small but powerful magnet. When an audio signal is transmitted to the headphone's coil, the coil vibrates in a magnetic field, which pushes the diaphragm to produce sound.
2. Smartphone
Magnets are widely used in smartphones, including vibration motors, wireless charging, speakers and earpieces, smart cases, etc. The types of magnets are mainly neodymium magnets.
Below is a view of my phone with a magnetometer, you can see a small rectangular magnets in the lower left corner position, the probability is neodymium material.
3. Electric toothbrush
Electric toothbrushes have become part of many people's daily oral care routine. One of the core components of an electric toothbrush is the magnet, which works in conjunction with the motor to drive the brush head to vibrate at high speed through changes in the magnetic field. This vibration cleans dirt and food debris from the surface of the teeth and between the teeth more effectively. Compared to traditional manual toothbrushes, electric toothbrushes are becoming more and more popular because of their efficient cleaning ability and convenient use.
In electric toothbrushes, common magnet shapes are diamond shaped.
4. Magnetic doorstop
Magnetic door stops are a common household item used to secure the door of a room to prevent the door from blowing in the wind or slamming shut unexpectedly. The built-in magnet in the doorstop can be easily attached between the door and the wall to ensure that the door stays open, preventing the door from swinging in the wind or closing suddenly.
Although magnets may seem ordinary, but its application in our daily life is everywhere, what else do you know?
